Business Unit and Position Summary
Location: CRANE ChemPharma Resistoflex
Marion, North Carolina

Responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors. Evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers. Experienced in standard procurment concepts, practices and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals to perform a variety of tasks.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Assure stock items are maintained in accordance with inventory stocking policy, and that orders for non-stock items are processed in a timely, effective manner.
• Review the appropriate MRP and related Supply Chain reports for item usage, including unusual demands, and assures that stock levels will be appropriate. Decisions regarding stock status are made based on usage, work in process, and manufacturing lead times.
• Enters Product master and related information into PRMS as authorized.
• Assist in maintaining the accuracy of the database by arranging for the correction of errors and the addition of new information.
• Generate, maintain, and resize Kanban programs as required.
• Plan, manage, execute and follow-up (expedite as necessary) on purchase orders placed and quotes requested.
• Receive requisitions; analyze for quantity, specifications, and delivery requirements. Develop sources, request pricing and delivery; select supplier and place order.
• Advise management of market conditions and supplier base activity which could affect quality, pricing and/or delivery.
• Gain familiarity with the end use of assigned commodities, leading to the possibility of alternative materials or specifications.
• Evaluate suppliers through methods such as supplier visitations and various objective performance measurements, including quality, on-time delivery, service performance and price performance. Certify as necessary
• Generate effective communications, good relations, and a positive image with customers, suppliers and coworkers, promoting courtesy, objectivity, and fairness.
• Responsibilities require the use of discretion and independent judgment in dealing with customers and vendors.
• Analyze shortage conditions or delays; recommend and execute corrective action.
• Optimize the use of company assets and compliance to established Crane policies and procedures.
• Formulate short-term and long term strategies to ensure quality and continuity of supply while minimizing total cost.
• Negotiate purchase agreements, pricing, delivery and place orders with suppliers.
• Support quality specifications and resolution of quality issues.
• Participate in, lead, or facilitate CBS Kaizen events as required.
• Create and maintain action plans and 3 in 1 countermeasure sheets for all associated KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) as required.
• Some travel required as necessary.


• Three to five years of purchasing, inventory and production planning experience.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Unimpeachable ethics.
• Self-starter that works with minimal supervision.
• Understands and can utilize Lean techniques as they apply to manufacturing/supply control/purchasing.
• NAPM membership/certification or APICS membership, CPIM and CPM certification preferred.
• Proficient in Windows based software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.

Organization Structure:
• Reports directly to the Purchasing Manager with a dotted line relationship to the Value Stream Manager.
