Note: |
Rotationally-lined "Complex Shapes" are available lined with
Tefzel® ETFE through 24" dia. Housing and flange material can be
carbon steel or stainless steel. These include manifolds, branched
elbows, reducing laterals, double and triple branch instruments tees,
etc, per customer requirements. Tefzel® liner is unpigmented.
Check Resistoflex chemical resistance data for max. use temperature
of Tefzel® with various media. Liner selection is responsibility
of the customer. Contact factory for more information. |

|
4. FITTING REQUIREMENTS - FABRICATED CARBON STEEL: |
|
- Fittings conform dimensionally to ANSI B16.5.
- Metallurgy is as follows:
- Instrument Tee, Lug Body Instrument Tee
- Reducing filler flange is ASTM A516 GR 70 or SAE 1010-1030
steel.
|
|
5. LINER REQUIREMENTS: |
|
- Resin for 1" through 4" is a polyvinylidene fluoride/hexafluoropropylene
copolymer. Resin for 6" and 8" is a polyvinylidene fluoride
homopolymer per ASTM F1545.
- Standard liners are black in color.

The minimum liner flange face thickness is 0.100" (2.54 mm). |
|
6. OPERATING REQUIREMENTS: |
|
- Service temperature:
For Polyvinylidene Fluoride:
0° F (-18°C) to 275°F (135°C)
For Polyvinylidene Fluoride/Hexafluoropropylene Copolymer:
-20°F (-29°C) to 275°F (135°C)
|
|
Note: |
Operating temperature limitations may be encountered depending
upon specific chemical environments. |
|
B. |
Pressure: The maximum allowable working pressure equals the
corresponding ANSI pressure-temperature rating per the designated
metallurgy. |
|
C. |
Vacuum: 1" through 8" standard fittings have full vacuum
rating to 275°F. Complex Shapes vacuum rating is undetermined.
Testing can be provided at an additional charge. |
|
7. STORAGE AND HANDLING REQUIREMENTS: |
|
- Avoid dropping or impacting fittings with heavy objects or storing
near high traffic areas.
- Uninstalled lined fittings should not be stored or handled at
temperatures below 0°F (-18°C).
|
|
8. PAINT: |
|
|
Paint is a two component epoxy primer, formulated on proprietary
polymer technology, which provides rapid cure and overcoating even
under low temperature conditions. The maximum external temperature
rating is 212°F (100°C)
Rotationally-lined complex shapes will receive a two-part polyamide
epoxy primer with a max external temperature rating of 250°F.
|
|
9. INSPECTION AND QUALITY CONTROL: |
|
- Each standard fitting passes a 15,000 volt minimum electrostatic
spark test to ensure integrity of the plastic liner. Complex shapes
receive either a 12,500 volt minimum electrostatic spark test or a
425 psig hydrostatic test.
- All parts pass visual inspection.
- The sealing surface of the liner is free of defects that would
impair sealing effectiveness.
- Wooden or plastic end protectors are used to protect the plastic
faces. End protectors should stay in place until immediately prior to
installation.
- Fittings are labeled with a sticker which identifies the plastic
liner type and the flange material.
- A black nylon band to identify the liner as PVDF is affixed to all
fittings.
- Products are identified with molded date tabs on the plastic faces
or are impression marked for material traceability.
